Welcome to Panda Yarns!

Panda Yarns was started in June of 2018 by Amanda, an avid crocheter who lives in Alberta and currently residing near Edmonton! I started crocheting in 2014 after both my parents were diagnosed and fought cancer. It was crochet that kept me sane when my dad lost his battle in July 2015. 

I have 3 children, 2 pets, and my husband is a medically retired veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. I currently have a full time day job as well.

So, let's start with some FAQ's.

The Cakes

Cakes are made with PLIED yarn, which means multiple strands held together, not wound. Gradient cakes are made with each color changed one strand at a time with a tiny knot that is strong and easily hidden in your work. Variegated cakes are created by holding colors and keeping the colors throughout with no changes. Variegated cakes may not look exactly like the photo. Each spins differently, and looks different depending on which color thread is on top.

Cakes come in 2 weights. 4 Ply yarn is also known as 1: Super Fine weight or Fingering. 5 Ply is also known as 2: Fine weight or Sport weight.

Recommended hook and needle size:
For 4 ply - Hook size B (2.25mm) to E (3.5mm); Needle size 1 (2.25mm) to 3 (3.25mm)
For 5 ply - Hook size E (3.5mm) to 7 (4.5mm); Needle size 3 (3.25mm) to 5 (3.75mm)

Each cake comes with a cute panda charm that makes centre pulling so easy. No yarn barf!
